The fertilization of your fields is essential to have the most possible return for the investment in time & money that you put in your feeder fields. To make your life easier, here is a basic fertilization program for each of our mixtures.
First, it is important to understand the basics. Fertilizers are often labeled with 3 or 4 numbers. The first represents nitrogen (N), the second phosphorus (P) & the third is potassium (K). Sometimes certain fertilizers will have a 4th digit for Magnesium (Mg). The number represents the composition of the element in the mixture in percentage.
For example, if we take a 6-24-24 it implies that there is in the bag:
- 6% nitrogen
- 24% phosphorus
- 24% Potassium

The incorporation method is to be favored to avoid losses. Just add the fertilizer by tilling the soil just before sowing. It is a technique that lends itself well to autumn, summer & soy blends since the establishment is done in depth and often requires working the soil.
For those who prefer to spread their fertilizer on the fly, this is also possible. The only issue with this technique is that there is more loss since the fertilizer is not protected in the soil.
